DIS Corporation history begins February 12th, 1991 with the establishing of a family run wholesale company under the name Diskomerc with only three employees.
In the period from 1994 to 1996 Diskomerc Company enters a phase of intense development. For business needs, a new warehouse area of 800 m2 is built, and an increasing volume of work was followed by an increased number of employees.
The new, successful business venture led to need of greater capacity areas and modernization of all business segments. A modern administrative building which fulfills all international standards is built in 1999. The area of this building is 2,000 m2, of which 1,000 m2 belongs to office space, 500 m2 to exhibition-sales space and 500 m2 to a kitchen with three restaurants of capacities 12, 24 and 100 places.
Distribution center, located in Krnjevo, covers an area of four hectares. Storage space takes up 14,400 m2, and goods are stored according to assortment similarity principle. Around 9,000 items are stored in five organizational units. Total daily output of goods is 500 tons.
The transport system, with load of 650 tons, is responsible for transport of such a great quantity of goods, both output and input. DIS freight vehicles cross from 350,000 to 420,000 km monthly. In the same period of time, the vehicles carry over 13,000 tons of goods and for that purpose consume 100,000 liters of fuel monthly.
Diskomerc quickly developed into a wholesale commerce which through a network of 3,000 vendors covers the entire market of Serbia and at the same time cooperates with around 500 key producers, distributors and importers.
In 2005 the company obtains the name it carries today – DIS.
DIS Corporation is characterized by good knowledge of goods and the market, safe, cheap and quick transport and very good organization which gives high productivity, which is wisely used for strategic investment planning, without credit borrowing, which gave great competitive results in the many years of development.
Special attention is paid to the computerization of entire DIS activity. The most important role is entrusted to a powerful computer center. All necessary applications are now served by a powerful Fujitsu Siemens Blades chassis PRIMERGY BX600. A large number of workstations and laptop computers are served by the newest Cisco Company Wireless and LAN technology. In cooperation with Telekom Company, soon each of our facilities will be equipped with a high-speed internet connection. Work in storage and sales area is made easier by 160 handheld devices and terminals. More than 70% of our vendors from Serbia order their goods over the internet.
Development of DIS Corporation retail chain began in late 2005 through a franchise network, to be strengthened on December 21st, 2006, with the opening of its first retail facility – DIS-market in Smederevo. Today, DIS has
ten of its own facilities, in
Smederevo, Velika Plana, Krusevac, Jagodina, Mladenovac, Lazarevac, Smederevska Palanka, Pancevo, Kragujevac and Belgrade.
Besides the existing, DIS plans on opening a great number of new facilities. DIS currently employs around 1170 workers.
